Sales reached astronomical proportions: 900,000 cassettes snapped up in a few weeks! So Thomas contacted Sylvie Uderzo, director of Les Editions, who immediately saw the sense of the project. In September 1993, to mark the beginning of the school year, they were selling an album of short Asterix stories in a package with the first three Asterix video films. This was organised by Eleuthera, the public relations agent for Les Editions Albert René from 1990 to 1997, and Gaumont Video. Just for the record, it is interesting to know that the project came into being in 1994, when Thomas Langmann, Claude Berri’s son, came across the fantastic results of a communication campaign for Asterix cassettes. Now all comic strip authors dream of having their work made into live-action films! And judging by current projects, quite a few will be attempting to follow Asterix’s example. ![]() When Shakespeare mentions the “croaking raven” it associates with ill omens but was also renowned for eating the decayed flesh of fallen soldiers of the battle fields. Lady Macbeth can be depicted as a very sinister person. Symbolism is seen frequently throughout the play Macbeth as Shakespeare portrays Lady Macbeth as an engrossing character. Hence, through Shakespeare’s use of effective characterisation, he makes the character of Lady Macbeth a vital one. The audience must be surprised at this point since Duncan is going along with Lady Macbeth’s overly ‘nice’ act easily, showing how cunning she really is. Adding on, it is clear that Lady Macbeth’s plan is going exactly how she wanted when King Duncan says “Give me your hand”. Hence, emphasizing her determination to go through with her plan and make Macbeth King but most importantly, make herself Queen. In an attempt to flatter the King so that he does not suspect a thing, Lady Macbeth overdoes it, to the point she’s completely exaggerating, “For those of old, and the late dignities heaped up to them, we rest your hermits.” (Act 1 scene 6). Moreover, Lady Macbeth’s misleading personality is further developed when King Duncan comes to visit them. This further portrays her as a threatening character to the audience. This could suggest how she is one of the witches or at least connected to some kind of evil being. During the Victorian era, witches were a common thing most people feared but Shakespeare kept emphasizing how Lady Macbeth wasn’t ‘normal’ like the rest of the men and women of the society. This again emphasizes her deceptive qualities and how she is only using Macbeth to actually get what she wants. Since her main goal has always been to become Queen, Macbeth’s under confidence is the only thing getting in her way. She continuously doubts his masculinity and has to remind him to live up to his potential and earn his place as king. This shows how the writer utilized different themes to bring out Lady Macbeth’s character as enthralling. This would make the audience aware of Lady Macbeths erroneous intentions and they may grow to dislike her. She also refers to her whole ruthless plan as an “illness” which suggests how she is aware that what she is doing is morally wrong, but because of her determination, she won’t stop. By questioning his masculinity, it emphasizes her desire for Macbeth to become King because she doesn’t want anything to go wrong. She is insistent that Macbeth becomes King, “shalt be what thou art promised”, but she still questions his ways in case they get in between her plan, “too full o’th’milk of human kindness”. Her goal is to become Queen which can only happen if Macbeth becomes King so if he hesitates, she shows enough ambition for the both of them. ![]() Lady Macbeth, through the play, can be seen as more ambitious then her husband. Shakespeare also uses the theme of ambition to portray Lady Macbeth as a captivating character. The way Lady Macbeth calls upon the spirits would remind the audience of the witches showing that she is as evil them. In a scene of powerful determination, she calls upon the powers of evil to assist her, “Come, you spirits”, this could suggest how Lady Macbeth is like one of the witches itself, since normally the witches are the ones chanting spells and prophesizing. Furthermore, the author explores the theme of supernaturalism to represent Lady Macbeth as cold-hearted. All of this would’ve been particularly shocking for Shakespeare’s original audience considering it was a woman who was saying it. Milk is really sweet while gall gives us a sense of acerbity. The contrast of milk and gall further emphasize her gallant characteristic. This sentence expresses how heavy hearted she is because breast milk is meant for babies which represents innocence and life while gall, a bitter fluid, is what lady Macbeth wants to replace it with hence it gives us a sense of darkness. By asking to trade her feminine qualities for poison emphasizes how desperately she wants power and that she’s willing to go to any extreme to get it. Additionally, she’s again begging the spirits to go to her “woman's breasts” and take her “milk for gal”. She wanted to rid herself of her feminine qualities when she tells the spirits to “unsex me” (act 1, scene 5) which suggests that according to her, females might show weakness, but she can’t afford to be feeble since Macbeth is contemplating killing the King and she might have to do it instead. Lady Macbeth’s intense personality is brought out through the theme of masculinity. With the use of numerous themes, Shakespeare embodies the character of Lady Macbeth as a riveting one. ![]() ![]() It felt like everything was just starting as technology began to advance. When the Wii was released, society was in a much different place. Not only that, but the design, the gameplay, the characters, all of it fits well together and results in something that feels real. But in the near half-decade since that title, music in games, and the idea of music in games has evolved and flourished just as the overall gaming medium has. It requires a certain level of thinking and in the earliest days had to be coded directly into the game’s level design, resulting in the powerfully kinetic tune that introduced the world to Super Mario Bros.’ theme in 1986. Composing music for a video game is an entirely different beast than creating a SoundCloud single or producing a studio album. All of the equipment and thought process really boils down to three things, in my experience:ġ. I have been running sound for around 30 years at a professional level. This is where a lot of muddiness in a vocal can be found. One last VERY HELPFUL TIP! Clean up a male vocal by cutting 3-6 dB in the 250 to 350 Hz range. Also, lowering other channel volumes can bring the boost that you need. Cut that small frequency band in the other. Cutting frequencies is often the cure.įor example, if two instruments share common frequencies and you want one instrument to stand out, don’t boost the frequency for that instrument. However, with EQ and even cross-channel balancing, this isn't always the case. Maybe it’s something deep within our minds that says “ if there is a problem with the sound then we need to boost the good frequencies to makeup for it.”
